Kingfisher, birth of Moorhens

At around 12.45 Kingfisher near Kingsmead Sports centre.

To my surprise I saw the Moor Hen nest that had been nested on previously to today in the Canterbury Christcurch pond empty. A pair of Moorhens with four lovely active baby chicks. One of the adult Moorhen's chases the nearby black bird like a warmonger.

Overflow next to mill on River Stour

Today the overflow next to the old mill was working. Possibly highest water level I have seen in Canterbury in the Stour. Backwater will be replenished.

16th May

Lots of spring seeds, white build up on grass. Kestral, three large fish. High water levels in Stour stream. Cat with neck brace. 12.19pm.
