Continued absence

I have been absent from Canterbury for over one month. I am staying in Oxford. I have seen one unusual sighting, unfortunately not a live one, but nonetheless a beautiful female Blackcap on the bike route (51) next to the Cutteslowe area.

Notable news from the Stour Valley: lots of Yellow Wagtail seen. Water rails are about; Spotted Crake (www.kentos.org.uk/recentsigntings/recentsightings.htm).

Absence

I will be absent from Kent until September 25th 2006. This is during my holiday period (I am studying English Literature at Canterbury Christchurch University, Canterbury). I recently went to Kenya and on the flight home saw Kent from the air (on Monday 31st July in the afternoon). It looked quite sunny on the North Kent coast and in the North sea. Dover looked a bit rainy. Our plane flew roughly over Southend on Sea, which I visited in early July. The Thames estuary looked slightly shallow compared with the rest of the sea.

Kent is a wonderful area for all types of wildlife, especially along the coasts so I will try to do some research and put some posts regarding what has been seen in Kent, with some information on the Canterbury area.

Time now: 21:05 3rd August 2006. Location: Oxford (home).
